Values Based Networking Masterclass

September 30th | 6-8:30 PM

The Hesburgh Program is hosting a professional development opportunity specifically for students interested in policy, public service, government, and nonprofits careers. Adam Newman, a ND Alum and networking enthusiast, will offer a masterclass in Values Based Networking.

Part 1: Value-Based Networking
Value-Based Networking is a philosophy built around one question: “How can I provide value to the other person when networking? It can be used by aspiring interns, CEOs, and everyone in between. In part one of the master class, students will learn the five-step framework, from cold outreach to long-term follow-up, where each step contains countless small but powerful practical moves to stand out. Value-Based Networking is ideal for those with a short-term need, such as seeking a job or internship, who are self-conscious about appearing transactional.

Part 2: Taking the Work Out of Networking: Using AI to Make Networking Easier (and More Human)
The ease of AI tools like ChatGPT is increasingly filling people’s inboxes with “AI slop,” which is, at best, ineffective and, at worst, counterproductive. Taking the Work Out of Networking focuses on balancing the obvious efficiency gains from AI tools with the much harder goals of quality and capturing your own voice. Students will learn how AI can help with the parts of networking that often prevent people from getting started or paralyze them during the process, allowing them to focus more energy on the human parts of the relationship.
